General FAQ

How does Dotted achieve its free service?

Dotted generates revenue by taking a small percentage from the collective volume discounts it secures. All of our earnings come directly from AWS. We firmly believe that saving costs should not pose an additional financial burden for our customers.

How does the group buying work?

Larger companies can negotiate exclusive deals and discounts with cloud providers that may be inaccessible to startups. However, with consolidated billing, Dotted provides access to these advantages. In addition to the negotiated volume-based discounts, our AI consistently strategizes, purchases, and optimizes AWS commitments for entire Dotted organization. Dotted dynamically adapts to your changing environments, whether they grow, shrink, or experience sudden spikes in usage.

Which AWS services benefit from Dotted's cost arbitrage?

Explore the detailed list of AWS services covered by Dotted here. We take pride in being the exclusive provider that spans such a comprehensive range of AWS services.

I have free AWS credits. Can Dotted assist?

While this varies case by case, Dotted can help companies with specific types of free AWS credits, although not all companies with free credits are eligible.

What permissions am I granting?

Our permissions are limited to the billing layer only. We request that you join our AWS organization and use IAM roles and permissions exclusively for the necessary cost optimizations. We utilize AWS APIs to facilitate these savings.

Does Dotted pose a risk to our AWS environment?

Dotted has NO capability to modify your environment. There is no direct impact on your infrastructure, ensuring ZERO server downtime or disruptions to your developer workflows.

What is the minimum and maximum monthly AWS spend required?

We collaborate with companies with monthly spends ranging from $1,000 to several million dollars.

Is Dotted exclusive to AWS, or does it also support other cloud providers?

Currently, Dotted exclusively supports AWS. However, we have plans to expand our support to include GCP and Azure, with implementation slated on our roadmap for Q1 and Q2 of 2024.
