Step 3 - Start Savings
The KYB (Know Your Business) process is an essential step in the customer activation flow at Dotted. Its goal is to ensure regulatory compliance and properly verify the identity and financial capacity of the company that will operate with AWS invoices managed by Dotted, in partnership with the distributor.
Why is KYB necessary?
When a customer chooses Dotted as a partner for cloud consumption optimization and management, they agree to transfer their AWS billing to the Dotted/Distributor structure. This means that financial responsibility is assumed by these entities, which then pass the charges on to the end customer in Brazilian reais via a local invoice.
To enable this, both Dotted and the Distributor must perform a credit analysis of the contracting company. This step is mandatory, as it involves financial exposure on the part of the distributor, who will pay the AWS invoices upfront and must ensure that the customer has the capacity to meet their payment obligations.
What is verified in the KYB process?
During this process, basic information and documentation are requested to validate the company’s legal existence and financial health, such as:
CNPJ number (or EIN, for companies outside Brazil);
Legal name and full address;
Legal representatives and corporate documentation (if necessary);
Proof of revenue or credit score.
This information is processed securely and confidentially, in accordance with data protection regulations.
Note: In some cases, additional documents may be required to support the credit analysis (e.g., income statements, balance sheets, etc.).
What happens after the KYB process?
After the verification is completed:
If approved, the customer can proceed with the full onboarding process on the Dotted platform, activating their organization and starting to benefit from features such as cost optimization, invoicing in Brazilian reais, unified financial dashboards, and specialized support;
If any issues or rejections occur, Dotted’s support team will contact the customer with specific guidance.
